Holly......our new holiday home..!
(yes..... if you have read this previously.....we had a name change......long story, but necessary!)
A weekend in Edmonton....to pick up our holiday home....Holly.....a pop up tent trailer. We bought it from an English couple that are also here on exchange, but are soon to return to London. As you can see, she is not the most recent model, but we don't need anything flash and she has got a heater!!! She also has a queen size bed either end (& a double in the middle if you have guests?!), a fridge, 3 burner stove.....really what else do you need?? This is my kind of camping, at least I am not sleeping on the ground, & the most financially viable way to spend two months summer holiday! It also allows us old gypsy's to re-live our misspent youth ....kind of?! |
Previously......
We drove to Edmonton on Saturday morning........first stop....
West Ed Waterslides!! This waterpark is inside West Ed Mall. It has an amazing variety of slides.....I think there are 23 all up!! The highest slide is 83ft ...aaargh! It also has a wave machine & a bungee tower. Yep, we spent most of the day there.....I went on a couple, Vin went on most & the girls checked them all out.....even the one that drops you vertically !?!!! Being the coward I am.....I went nowhere near that.....but happily sat on a deck chair on the "beach" reading........ |
Which one will we go on next????
|
The other wonderful thing about Strathcoma.......when we had breakfast.......coffee at starbucks....well, mocha, which was surprisingly good & tasted of coffee..... pastries from the supermarket next door.....while Vin was choosing, I wandered down the tea/coffe aisle......hopefully searching for leaf tea that I wouldn't have to sell Matilda for (you know, the first born thing...) and....oh my...can I believe my eyes.....yes! Quick.... pick it up & run....! Real leaf tea.....the small things of life.....
that make them feel just right!?! |
Now ........this is much more my pace... Sunday morning, strolling around the antique mall......heaven! Two floors, aisle upon aisle of treasure....... Josie came to me at one point saying " you ready to go mum.." My reply....." I've only done three aisles....here's some money....go get a hot chocolate....!" BAD mother?! She was happy ......for a while! My family dragged me out after several hours.......we had to go & get the trailer. Shame it wasn't a box trailer, I could have filled it with treasure from here!!! Standard lamps, art, chairs, boxes, bottles......not many teapots though? We came out with what we could carry & fit in the car.....some art, brooches. a hat, some gorgeous old wood & leather snowshoes........o my.... I wish I had that box trailer, there could have been so much more. I will return! |
