Camp Warwa........
|
Yep. Camp. 2 and 1/2 days of fun and starvation.:) we were all up early to get to Camp Warwa, which was about 2h 15minutes away from clandonlad. Well, when we got there, we split into groups, and put away our things in the cabins-boys in one, girls in the other. Soon my group-Hailey, Jill, Bailey,Jade, Amanda, Trisha,Trista, Keelan, Julian and Tom.b- were doing our first activity....group challenges. The first thing we did was the human knot......... unfortunately, we COULD NOT unravel it, and hence we got the title of Most Complicated Human Knot EVER! so we stopped that. Next, we played what i now call Island Marshmallow. Basically, we had to get from the 'chocolate island' to the 'cookie island' without touching the ground, aka the 'hot chocolate'. The catch? We always had to be touching our stepping stone 'marshmallows', or the 'chocolate shark' aka our camp counsellor, would take it away. After a couple of goes, we made it! Then we had to get all 11 of us on a small wooden box. We succeeded by grabbing the person opposite us's hands and pulling. We manage to hold it for 3 camp warwas as well as 2x the alphabet!! We now held the record for that summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After that, we had to get from a large wooden platform to other, smaller wooden platforms without touching the ground and using only 2 pieces of wood. on the smallest platform, we managed not to touch the ground by doing what we had done on the last activity. Then, we played tug of war with a long piece of rope. With the same rope, we then did this thing where you had to hold the rope and not let go. Only, most people grabbed the loops that were there. so we had to unravel the rope! We did, thankfully. our last group challenge was to make different shapes with the big piece of rope....... with our eyes closed! We did pretty well, actually.
Me, on the hard wall. I just COULDN'T get past that ledge!! |
The next morning, we woke to find that it had rained a fair bit in the night. But after breakfast, we still did the high ropes course and zipline. Again, we belayed those who went up (only Hailey didn't- Jade wasn't going to, because she's terrified of heights, but she did). We were up fairly high, and the cables were thin..... and wobbly!! The first course, despite being the thickest (it was a log) was the hardest, simply because it was the first. We all had a partner (mine was Amanda) to check our clippy things, so we didn't fall though. oh, did I mention the cables were also slippery because it had rained while we were getting ready? Needless to say, I was a pole hugger!!! But, later on even they weren't very reassuring- they were swaying in the wind!! The third course (left) was by far the easiest! The funniest one was the rope criss-cross one (below with Jill)!!! Amanda and I finalised our high ropes course by doing one where you had to rely on the other person for support... it was a duo, and the cables kept getting further and further apart! Then there was the zipline. It was like flying!!!! After that we had lunch. We were going to go in one big canoe afterwards, but they decided the water was too bumpy due to the wind and rain. So instead we played games in the forest. The first one was that we had to find a unique thing in the forest and bring it back to the teepee that was there. I found a spiders web with baby spiders and spiders eggs in it! Well, when we were told to go find one of each of the unique things, most people were scared to get mine!! After that we played camouflage, where we followed our counsellor through the forest, and when he shouted CAMOUFLAGE!, we had to hide. he'd try to find us, but if he couldn't, he'd start counting, the less people left to find, the less time. Anyway, when he started counting, you had to run up and tag him before going off to hide again. it was a lot of fun. After that, we played a game with compasses. I'm not going to describe it because it was really boring. After that we had free time. Most of us played cards (including drug dealer) or ninja.
Ninja. In Ninja, you have to try and karate chop other peoples wrists. Once you move, you freeze, and you cant move unless someone attacks your wrists or until your next turn. Then we had dinner. Our game for that night was stones. Basically, its capture the flag. Only, there's lots of flags, once you're tagged, you sit and wait for someone to get you and surrounding the flags (little rings, hence the name stones) was a hula hoop, where you could stay for 30 seconds before you had to leave. After stones, we shared a camp fire with the other school, because there was only one sheltered fire. We did the camp fire songs and snack, but after they'd left, we stayed because THE PARENTS HAD BOUGHT US SWEETS BECAUSE OF OUR WHINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE WERE SAAAAAVED!!!!!!!!!!!!! We pigged out and had a good time until 10 o'clock (no noise allowed after that:/).

On the morning of our final couple of hours at camp Warwa, we woke up and packed up before heading to breakfast (Trista's phone had an alarm-that's how we woke up every morning). First we went kayaking, which was heaps of fun, and then we went on the vertical playground. The vertical playground was just a lot of ropes and planks and swinging tires...... only you were climbing UP them, not on them. They were challenging, but a good laugh. We then had lunch, then said goodbye to camp Warwa. After a group picture, of course.:) Till x
